Sustainability

VAUDE clothing is simply more ecological. The VAUDE Green Shape label stands for environmentally friendly, functional products made from sustainable materials. We are consistently pursuing a green path with integrated concepts and innovative products.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

Going the eco-friendly and fair route… this is what drives us and at the same time is the matter closest to heart.

We pay attention to environmental compatibility and sustainability throughout the entire life cycle of a product, from design and materials, through production, use and care, to recycling and disposal. Additional information can be found in our Sustainability Report.

The following Green Shape features make your ecological footprint even smaller with VAUDE apparel:

Recycled Materials

Wherever possible, we use recycled materials in our apparel – for example, in the lining and outer materials. This not only reduces waste, but also helps conserve the planet’s valuable resources.

Renewable / Biobased Materials

Sustainability is extremely important to us. In addition to recycled materials, we also use renewable plant and animal-based raw materials to conserve fossil resources.

PFC-free

Our membranes and waterproofing are 100 % free of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFCs), which are suspected of being hazardous to health.
VAUDE products use the environmentally friendly Eco Finish DWR (durable water resistancy) impregnation. This water-repellent finish is applied to the outer materials of the garment and causes raindrops to bead up and roll right off the fabric. This protects you from rain and keeps the planet clean.

Green Membranes

Ceplex Green ensures that your apparel is reliably waterproof, windproof and breathable. It is made from 25 % recycled or biobased materials, and at the same time it’s 100 % free of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFCs).

Certified organic cotton

We include certified organic cotton whenever we can – especially in our t-shirts. The cotton is produced under strict ecological conditions: without chemical fertilizers, without pesticides, and with lower water consumption than conventional cultivation methods. After all, we want you to feel absolutely great wearing our products.

Wood Fibers

We use TENCEL®, a Lyocell fiber from Lenzing, in many of our jerseys. It is of botanic origin, made from cellulose, and extracted from the raw material wood.
The fiber is produced with a closed-loop process that is extremely eco-friendly. Textiles made from TENCEL® are more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.

Recycled Coffee Grounds

In some of our apparel we use a proportion of functional S.Café® fabrics. These are made from recycled coffee grounds, which are converted in a patented process so that we can make functional clothing from them. The material is quick-drying, odor-inhibiting and offers natural UV protection.
