How do I seal the seams on my Ultralight tent with Silicone Seam Sealer?

VAUDE ultralight tents have an expanded lifespan, first-rate water beading properties and excellent UV-resistance with a 3-ply silicone layer, some on the inside as well. The seams are factory seam sealed – with a process that’s unique to VAUDE tents. In order to make your VAUDE ultralight tent 100% waterproof, however, you’ll need to hand seal high-stress anchor points. Read on to find out how.

This is the Tool you need.

Step One

Apply the silicone to the seam and spread it with the supplied brush. If necessary, wipe off excess silicone on the sides with a cloth. Allow to dry for 24 hours.

Note: Apply the silicone not only on the seams but also around other seams, such as loops.

The tent material should be dry as well as dust and oil free. Clean the outer fly in advance with a damp towel if necessary.

Spread open the tent and allow the silicone sections to cure for 24 hours.

Finished! You did it.
